PDD helps adults with developmental disabilities get services to live as independently as possible in their community.
The Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PDD) program helps eligible adults plan, coordinate and access services to live as independently as they can in their community.
To be eligible for the PDD program, you must:
- be 16 years or older to apply and 18 when PDD services start
- live in Alberta and receive PDD services here
- be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
Disability criteria
You must also have a developmental disability from before you were 18-years-old. Depending on your situation, PDD may ask if you have an assessment from your school or a doctor or specialist confirming your developmental disability. If you do not have one, PDD may ask a psychologist to do an assessment based on the Developmental Disabilities Guidelines.
To be eligible for the PDD program, the assessment needs to show the disability makes it hard for you to learn and understand things due to an IQ of 70 or lower and complete a daily living assessment. Learn more about eligibility here.
