Who said you need to be broke?

Back to school doesn’t have to mean break the bank! There are ways to take the sting out of tight finances as you head to college or university.

Campus Events

Free food? So, you’re sayin’ there’s a chance! Check your campus calendar and scope out upcoming events. You may learn something, meet people, and oh yeah...find free food too!

Look for student discounts

Aside from the stress and late nights, being a student has its perks! Student discounts is one of them. Check grocery stores, your bank, movie theatres, clothing stores, and any other place you spend money.

Need a new laptop?

The easiest way to save money on a new laptop or phone is to not buy one! Can you get away with using the old one for another year? If you really need that big, new purchase but the price tag is scaring you, consider what you can sell. How about that old Xbox you never use? The box of video games? Try selling stuff you don’t use anymore on Facebook, Kijiji or Craigslist and THEN go buy the new item! Be sure to ask for the student discount on your new purchase!

Software you say?

Many students in both high school and university can get free software through their school (Microsoft Office, Adobe, etc.). Ask your teacher and who knows what they might say! If not, most software has student pricing too!

Basic Adulting 101: Make a budget
